Dundee's X-Ray Pioneers

An experimental X-ray tube from 1897

As the Tayside Medical History Museum (like the rest of the University of Dundee’s museums and galleries) is closed during lockdown, curator Matthew Jarron has been making a series of weekly videos exploring highlights from the University collections. One of these focuses on the pioneering x-ray experiments undertaken at Dundee and the heavy price paid by Dundee Royal Infirmary’s first radiologist Dr George Pirie caused by over-exposure to x-rays.
