On September 29th 2023, the Scotland & Medicine partnership organised a conference which brought together the different medical collections across museums, libraries and archives in Scotland for a day of stimulating talks hosted at the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh.
Laurie Britton Newell, Senior Curator at the Wellcome Collection was asked to give a keynote address covering the In Plain Sight exhibition which ran at the Wellcome Centre in London from October 2022 -2023. In her talk, Laurie explained the inspiration for the exhibition and covered in detail the challenges they came across and lessons learned as a result of designing an exhibition with inclusive design centred from the very start.
Laurie has kindly given permission for the recorded presentation to be shared, so that other museums can learn from the Wellcome Collection's experience.
