The University of Stirling Archives and Special Collections is the place of permanent deposit for the records of NHS Forth Valley. These collections includes a broad range of material related to nursing and the records of historic local hospitals, including the Stirling District Asylum and the Royal Scottish National Hospital whose collection was added to the UNESCO Memory of the World register in 2013. The University also holds the records of some non-NHS institutions such as local William Simpsons Asylum (now Williams Simpsons Home) in Plean.
